Pastor Richard Ding has left a lasting impression and his life is an impressive illustration of the fundamental
importance of family solidarity for social life as a whole, an importance which persists notwithstanding
considerable social change.
In the way he intended it, let us contribute to upholding a sense for our common descent and to passing on to
the younger generations an interest in genealogical research. In this respect, nowadays the internet provides
numerous opportunities, but the personal contact and conversation should always take precedence, an
attitude which Richard Ding has exemplified to us through his life.
In Memoriam Richard Ding
At the celebration of his 97th birthday in October 2006 in addition to his children, grandchildren and great-
grandchildren he also invited even more family members and members of the study group to celebrate
together. This should turn out to be the last larger gathering of retired Pastor Richard Ding with his family.
